Places I Never Eat: Food to Avoid at Disney World

Restaurants and Food to Avoid at Disney World
One of the greatest things about going to Disney World is getting to eat ALL. THE. FOOD.
I have never considered myself much of a foodie (read: I pretty much eat the same five things every week) but suddenly when I get to Disney I am the most adventurous eater on the planet. If we ever get separated at EPCOT, hubby knows to look for me in the World Showcase! Unfortunately, there are a few places around the Disney World parks that just don’t meet the bar. Here is a list of places I always AVOID eating while at Disney World.
Pinocchio’s Village Haus in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom
I’ve tried this place multiple times because I really want to like it. The inside of this quick service spot has really cute theming and my kids love to look out at “it’s a small world” while we eat; however, the food just does not make me want to come back for more. If you’re looking for a quick service spot at Magic Kingdom, go to Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn instead… better food and right at the beginning of the parade route. Win, win!

Sci-Fi Drive-In Diner at Hollywood Studios
Unless you just really want the feeling of an old-timey drive-in, don’t waste your time on this table service location. There are WAY too many other great food options at Hollywood Studios to waste your money on the fried fare at this place (I’m looking at you Woody’s Lunch Box, Hollywood Brown Derby, and even the ABC Commissary for Pete’s sake).
Sunshine Seasons in The Land Pavilion at EPCOT
Okay in total fairness the food at this place isn’t that horrible but it’s definitely not the best. The major problem with this one is that the atmosphere stresses me out! It’s basically a bunch of tables in the middle of an atrium which means it’s very loud and difficult to navigate due to the limited space. Try to only eat here in a pinch or when you’re trying to stay out of the rain.
Coral Reef Restaurant at EPCOT
First of all, this place is kind of hard to find if you don’t know where it is. Secondly, the food here is SO BORING. Even my kids were underwhelmed by this place. Yes, you can see the massive aquarium from your table but that’s only entertaining for the first ten minutes and then you have a lot of time to focus on how plain your food is. Please eat LITERALLY anywhere else at EPCOT besides here.

Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom
Full disclosure: maybe I feel this way because we have a Rainforest Cafe close to where I live but this place is not that special and it’s pretty expensive. The only time I would ever recommend eating here would be if you wanted to do an early breakfast before entering the park but honestly if you are going to do that you really should just eat at Tusker House. They have amazing food AND characters! Why not??
Conclusion: Food to Avoid at Disney World
Disney World has a ton of amazing food, so really this list may not be that important. But, if it’s your first trip, don’t make a rookie mistake and judge Disney’s food on any of the locations I pointed out above! Trust me, it’s infinitely easier to write a post about the worst foods rather than the best; that post wold be thousands of words long.
